This article addresses the issue of technomediation, viewed as a basis for the development of a digital society and a means of constructing new social practices. The authors analyze the role of technology in shaping individuals’ attitudes toward health and illness. Drawing on the theory of technomediation developed within the framework of post-phenomenological approaches (D. Ihde, P. Verbeek), they demonstrate how new biomedical technologies create, modify, and abolish social practices related to health and illness. Emphasizing the orientation of technologies toward personal access to new possibilities, the authors assert that technomediation, as a condition for the production of the social in modern society, possesses the potential to govern and shape new orders at the level of the individual and their lifeworld. Consequently, there arises a necessity to reassess the epistemological theory, practices, and control surrounding the use of technologies.
