The article analyzes the recently published, previously unknown interview of Nabokov by Israeli journalist Nurit Beretski (1970). The thoughts and judgments expressed in the interview are analyzed in the context of Nabokov’s creation. Predominantly the analysis of the interview is focused on identifying the theme of “exile”, which in this interview is identified through aesthetic categories: “Art is an Exile”. Thus, the interview offers a new version of the author’s self-identification of Nabokov and therefore serves as an important element specifying the main provisions of the philosophical and aesthetic concept of V. V. Nabokov.
