The period of national socialism in Germany is well-represented in the German Museum space, along with the theme of the First World War and the division of the country into Western and Eastern zones. It has been focused in attention since the late 1950s, when the first concentration camps were museumified. A new phase of the interpretation of this theme was initiated by the public interest in the 1980s. It is presented in the form of exhibitions at the specific locations, where the lea-ders of the National Socialist Party worked. In the 1990s, the first museums with stationary expositions were created in such places. The number of these museums increased in the XXI century. The specific traits, on the one hand, consist in the location of new museums in historical places, and on the other hand it is the fact that the exhibition is built on the document basis. Two of these important aspects are clearly portrayed in the naming of the new group of museums as documentation centers. The article deals with German significant museums in Obersalzberg, Nuremberg, Berlin and Munich.
