The article reviews the theme of destruction of natural life which was actively developed in Russian prose in the second half of the 20th and in early 21st centuries, by Valentin Rasputin and Roman Senchin. The writers focus on the tragic consequences of invasion of civilization into the traditional way of life of local residents and the ecosystem of surrounding sraces. The industrial development of Siberian lands, the construction of hydroelectric power plants and destroying natural primordiality are all symbols of an ontological catastrophe.
