The theme of “Russian morality” in the cultural identity of Russia

The article reveals the problems of “Russian morality” as one of the fundamental factors of the formation of cultural identity and individuality in Russia. It is indicated that it is impossible to touch upon moral issues separately from issues of religion and philosophy. The author highlights the main postulates of Russian philosophy in the field of morality, pointing out an important feature of the Russian person - a special pronounced sense of compassion inherent in the nation throughout the entire period of history. The special importance of research is given by the indication of the special role of moral principles in the life of the Russian people, its unique feature of opening one's heart only to God, in connection with which an endemic trend for philosophy was appeared - the “doctrine of the heart”, which states that it is the heart that is the receptacle for the highest mystical and the lowest, unconscious in man.
