Temporal Approach to Assessing the Status of a Region in the Sustainable Development System

The article presents an innovative methodology for assessing the status of a region in the sus-tainable development system based on a temporal approach. The proposed methodology overcomes the limitations of traditional approaches through the integration of classical indicators with dynamic indicators reflecting the speed and sustainability of regional development. Using the example of the Volga Federal District, the author’s methodol-ogy is used to calculate the temporal efficiency coefficient and assess the sustainability of indicators within the established «sustainability corridor». The developed multidimensional matrix of indicators allows not only to record the current state of the regional system, but also to assess the potential for its sustainability in the long term. Par-ticular attention is paid to the mathematical apparatus that allows identifying dynamic aspects of development and predicting critical bifurcation points of regional systems. The author substantiates the need to consider the temporal component in regional policy and offers recommendations for the implementation of the developed methodology in the practice of strategic planning at the regional and federal levels. The results of the study can be used to form a differentiated policy of support for regions, considering not only their status, but also their development trajectory.
