Trends and dynamics of developing sanatorium-resort activities in The North Caucasus Federal District

In the current economic and geopolitical conditions, the development of domestic tourism is an urgent strategic direction for the country's development. The impact of government programs and projects on the development of the industry, its infrastructure and the diversification of tourist and recreational services contributes to achieving positive results in the socio-economic development of the subjects of the Russian Federation. Many regions of Russia have unique and distinctive natural resource potential, as well as the necessary conditions for the formation of a sustainable sector of medical and wellness services and sanatorium-resort activities. However, the involvement of potential in commercial activities is often hindered by many factors and conditions related to the allocation of resources, their unavailability for development and implementation in practice of sanatorium-resort organizations, the discrepancy between the network of organizations providing basic services, the level of demand and the required quality. The article examines the state and trends in the development of health tourism and sanatorium-resort activities in the North Caucasus Federal District. Modern identification of both positive and negative trends will contribute to the formation of a rational state policy in the field of tourism in these territories and the development of a set of measures to ensure the solution of socio-economic problems based on a systematic approach and the formation of favorable business conditions. Considerable attention is paid to the financial and economic indicators of the sanatorium-resort complex as the main base for providing medical and wellness services. Determining and forecasting the positive dynamics of the development of sanatorium-resort organizations requires support measures at the federal and regional levels in relevant concepts, programs and strategies.
