Tendencies and directions of modernization of criminal legislation of the Russian Federation

The article investigates the tendencies of the present state of criminal legislation in the Russian Federation. It is noted that the dynamics of the socio-economic and political development of the state and society determines the transformation of established social and economic relations, which requires improvement of the existing legislation. The thesis concerning the updating of doctrinal positions that form in total the concept of modern criminal law based on the maintaining and upgrading of basic, time-tested practice of criminal law institutions in order to ensure adequate protection against the nowadays threats has been presented.
