The article discusses the agro-industrial complex of the region. The analysis is based on the vegetable market of the Saratov region. Vegetable growing is a branch of the regional food supply system, which plays an important role in meeting the needs of the population. The well-being of the country as a whole depends largely on how well it is developed. According to the Food Security Doctrine, the supply of home-grown vegetables with vegetables should be at least 80 %. Vegetable subcomplex is a major structural unit of the regional food complex. It includes a set of branches of vegetable. In the subcomplex there are four areas: the cultivation of vegetables; storage of products; vegetable processing; sales of products. Ensuring competition in the market of vegetable and vegetable products is a way to achieve high production efficiency. Competition allows you to create a market environment that contributes to reducing production costs, creating new types of products, developing scientific and technological progress and introducing innovations in vegetable production...
