Trends of the criminal and legal policy in the Russian Federation

The author of the article highlights and analyzes the main trends of the criminal and legal policy in the Russian Federation today. The article considers the impact of the priorities of the criminal and legal protection, norms of international law, modern crime and crimes of transnational nature on the priority directions of criminal legislation and law enforcement practice. The role of the principle of humanism in the formation of a liberal approach in the process of sentencing and exemption from criminal liability is shown. The critical judgments concerning a number of legislative decisions are exercised.
