In his scientific and theological work, Father Kirill Kopeikin proceeded from the contemplation of the depths of quantum mechanics, in which the secrets of the psyche were revealed to him and it was possible to create “a new field of knowledge, common to natural science, psychology and theology.” In Russian theological literature, his works will remain an unsurpassed example of scientific and theological synthesis, a special consonance of physics and theology, bearing a deep imprint of his personality as a scientist and Orthodox priest. If we define theological intuition as the thought of God that arises in the process of natural scientific research, then we can say that the starting point of his work was the contemplation of two theological intuitions of quantum mechanics: quantum uncertainty and the otherness of consciousness in relation to the physical world. Theological intuitions can be found in other areas of modern natural science. Fundamental intuitions about the primary character of life and consciousness can become the basis of a new natural science that is consistent with the patristic teaching on the hierarchy of participation to the Being.
