The article deals with the theoretical aspects of sports selection in rowing and canoeing. The importance of the influence of anthropometric indicators on performance is revealed. The main most effective somatopites have been identified. The anthropometric data have been systematized, which made it possible to divide young athletes into groups depending on body types, to choose the most effective method for teaching rowing techniques, to staff the crews.
