Corn silage is one of the main stalked feeds when feeding animals in dairy farming. Silage produced from the stalked mass of corn together with the cobs is the most nutritionally valuable feed. Harvesting the silage mass occurs during the season when rains are common. Water ingress leads to nutrient losses and an increase in the acidity of the silage mass, which reduces the nutritional value of the silage, reduces its digestibility and assimilation by cows. For harvesting silage, regardless of weather conditions and obtaining high-quality feed in rainy weather, the crushed mass should be drained of water before placing it in storage. A method for the preparation and storage of siloed feed has been developed, including harvesting the green mass of plants with their crushing and loading into containers, dehumidification and sealing with vacuuming. The silage is dehydrated before sealing and subsequent vacuuming by sucking air through it with liquid discharge. It is better to use a milking unit of the AID-1 type as a vacuum source, and Big-bags with polyethylene insert as containers. The paper presents theoretical studies of the process of preliminary removal of free moisture from the crushed green mass of corn during silage and storage in a container. A flow is created under the influence of the pressure drop of an unsaturated porous medium placed in a containe. As a result, water is removed from the porous medium of the crushed mass. Expressions are obtained for determining the volume of free liquid withdrawn from the crushed corn mass together with air, depending on the time of the process. Which allows us to determine the volume of liquid and the moisture content of the silage mass through it.
