The article is devoted to investigation of basic characteristics of the regional consumer market-dependence on regional specialization, territorial decentralization and subsidiarity. There are defined properties and indicators of the regional consumer market as an attribute of population and from the point of view of its residence. There are presented the results of analysis of status and trends of Chelyabinsk region consumer market development depending on supply and demand of goods and services. There are defined the directions of consumer market improvement at the regional and municipal levels.
