The article is devoted to the study of the theoretical and methodological foundations and historical mechanisms of the reception of law in the European context. The author analyzes key approaches to understanding reception, identifies the main mechanisms of its implementation, and conducts a comparative analysis of classical examples of Roman law reception.: The Justinian Code, the German Civil Code (BGB) and the Napoleonic Code. The central thesis of the article is that the successful reception of law is not a mechanical copying, but a creative adaptation of borrowed elements to the national legal, socio-economic and cultural realities of the host system, as proven by European historical experience.
