The researcher explores theoretical approaches to studying the phenomenon of professional adaptation of a law enforcement officer. The main approaches to perceive various views of adaptation are under consideration. The article estimates psychological instruments of professional adaptation and defines professional adaptation and maladjustment of a law enforcement officer, conceptual principles of surveying personal professional adaptation to law enforcement activity.
