Competition is considered, the condition of which is the presence of stable relations that develop between market entities, the motive of which is their economic interests. Competition stimulates the competitiveness of business units and leads to success if resources are used efficiently, by optimizing them, modernizing technology, improving quality, and reducing costs. It is substantiated that any expenditure of resources in economic thought is inextricably linked with their reproduction. The application of scientifically based approaches to the management of regional competitiveness is being updated, which makes it possible to develop effective management models, select indicators for assessing the quality of management and choose the right directions for increasing competitiveness. In the course of research and management of regional competitiveness, the resource approach is promising, since it is the set of resources at the disposal of the region that distinguishes it from competitors, and becomes the basis for the formation of a comparative competitive advantage and the occupation of a favorable competitive position by the region [1, p. 91]. The use of the resource-production approach is actualized not only by the efficient use of resources, but by their reproduction.
