The paper discusses the actualizing of the concept of an empire in the framework of foreign studies of Post-Colonialism by raising the question of necessity for expansion of the conceptual apparatus, which would allow it to define modern imperial projects by incorporating the concept of empireness into it. For this, the works of a number of authors are analyzed, one way or another mentioning the concept of imperialism and revealing it. The definition of imperiality is considered in the work of Mark Beyssinger, the refinement of imperiality in the framework of typologies of empires by Helen Meixis Wood is made, the main features of imperialism in the works of Herfried Münkler and Rainer Rilling are highlighted. The presented positions allow us to define the concept of imperialism as a variable quality or the distinctive features and properties of a state that claims to dominate the globalized world.
