Theoretical prerequisites for the study of regional socio-economic differentiation in the "center-periphery" system: a retrospective-genetic approach

The article attempts to analyze the theoretical preconditions for the study of socio-economic differentiation in the system of center-peripheral relationships. To test the formulated hypothesis about the prevalence of the concept "center" in theories of regional development, a retrospective-genetic analysis technique was proposed. Its implementation allowed us to confirm the proposed assumption, to form a graphical representation of the center-peripheral relations and to identify promising areas for their further theoretical research.
