This article investigates Plato's theory postulating permanence, eternity and perfection of ideas. The results of research show originality of the method that is chosen by Plato to achieve his goal. This method is based on the idea of the fundamental difference between the two concepts for understanding eternity. According to the first point of view, eternity is unlimited in terms of time. According to the second point of view, eternity is absence of time, or non-existence of time, and, thus, it refers to existence outside time. Plato's phrase «eternity of an idea» tells us that the idea exists outside time. This notion suggests that the existence of an idea is removed from any relationships with time. The same could be applied to the theory of space.
