Thermodynamic analysis of the reactions between Cr 2O 3, MgCr 2O 4 and gaseous carbon-containing reducing agents

The thermodynamic characteristics of reactions and gas equilibrium composition were calculated for reduction process of Cr 2O 3 and MgCr 2O 4 oxides by carbon- and hydrogen-containing gaseous reducing agents. It is found that the carbon- and hydrogen-containing radicals are showing increased reducing ability compared to molecular CO and H 2.
