Saturation thermometry of zircon, apatite, monazite(the Kozhim massif, Subpolar Urals)

Among the variety of existing methods of thermometry, a special place is occupied by saturation thermometry, based on the rock level of the organization of matter. This method allows the use of individual accessory minerals as natural geothermometers. In the study of the Kozhim massif exposed in the arch of the Lyapin anticlinorium, M.V. Fishman and his colleagues found that the temperature of granites formation of this massif does not exceed 720°C. To confirm the temperature regime of the rocks under consideration, saturation thermometry was used for accessory zircon, apatite, monazite. Using the formulas of Watson, Bea and Montel, which show the relationship between the temperature and the degree of accumulation of the necessary element for the crystallization of zircon, apatite, monazite, saturation temperatures for these minerals were established. According to the presented data, zircon crystallized at a temperature from 749С to 816С, apatite from 722С to 856С, monazite from 762С to 842С. This suggests that the Kozhim massif granites are hightemperature formations, which does not coincide with the conclusions of M.V. Fishman and his colleagues. However, the obtained temperature ranges are similar to the temperatures obtained earlier by the author using evolutionary crystal morphological analysis for the accessory zircon of the studied massif
