This article, based on a secondary analysis of the empirical studies results, describes the features of the territorial identity of the population of the Russian North-West and compares the nature of this identity in different regions. In the course of the study, it was possible to compare the hierarchies of types of territorial identity (local, regional, macro-regional, national, supranational) in such subjects as St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Kaliningrad and Murmansk regions. It was revealed that national identity is quite strong in all four regions. In the Arkhangelsk region, macro-regional and regional identities prevail over the national one, while in the Kaliningrad region, national, regional and local identities are equally strong. Supranational European and global identity do not have significant manifestations in any of the considered subjects of the Russian Federation. The discussion of the results notes the prospects for using the territorial identity of the population as a factor in mobilizing the socio-economic potential and a resource for ensuring the social security of the territories.
