The article deals with the analysis of literary and archaeological evidence, in order to reconstruct terretorial organization of a italo-roman rural community of the late Roman Republic. Also, in the article authors reveal a special «roundabout» arrangement of farms around an ager compascuus. The authors assess methodological applicability of this model for the studies of the agrarian law of Gaius Gracchus and history of the agricultural crisis in Rome of this period.
