Territorial dispute between Russia and Japan: historical background and international legal forms of settlement

In article the legislative and actual bases of permission of the Russian-Japanese dispute on the state ownership of the Kuril Islands are considered, provisions of international treaties are analyzed, the documentary materials and historic facts serving as justification of territorial claims. The international legal regulation of forms of settlement of territorial disputes is revealed.
