The creative economy is a new step in the world’s development. Creative economy, which is associated with the development of audiovisual materials, design, new media, performing arts, publishing and visual arts is today one of the fastest growing sectors and a major source of income. It makes a great contribution to the expansion of the labor market and contributes to the growth of export earnings.
While writing the following article we set up the following aim – to identify the role, the purpose of creative economy and the degree of its influence on the modern world development.
To implement this aim it is necessary to fulfill the following tasks:

1. Give general description of creative economy.

2. Determine the role and the purpose of this phenomenon.

3. Give examples of companies using creative economy in their work.
The term "creative economy" was first introduced into scientific circulation in 2000 by John Hawkins. Initially, according to his conception, creative economy is reflected in success of the creative industry’s development [2].
Nowadays, the creative economy is a particular sector of the economy based on intellectual activity. The creative economy is one of the most rapidly growing sectors of the world economy.
Let us consider the main characteristics of this trend. They are:

1. High role of new technologies and discoveries in various fields of human activity.

2. The high degree of uncertainty;

3. A large amount of existing knowledge and an urgent need to generate new one.
Furthermore, creative economy is characterized in terms of the creative approach, which is based on project mindset, creative imagination (simulations) and practical orientation [1].
What does that mean in a global sense?

- New factors of production: In the modern economy, there are two new factors of production: the information and the ideas.

- New concept: “anytime anywhere anything” – this is the core of the creative economy’s concept. The modern consumer is acting differently today, he wants to get the desired "anytime, anywhere" and the companies will be forced to adapt, namely, create a new system of distribution of their own products, otherwise, their services will be unclaimed.
Modern economy and society in developed countries are becoming increasingly creative. The main products of modern economy are new ideas and innovations in various fields of human activity. The role of the creative economy, in this case, consists in the development of the society, the country in accordance with the ever-increasing level of technological development, in ensuring the implementation of creative and intellectual potential of the person.
The purpose, in this way, is to provide the tools, techniques, platforms, development opportunities for the creation, generation, promotion and implementation of creative ideas. In the modern world, there is a huge number of companies using the creative economy’s principles in their work. They change social life, urban space and attitude to ideas.
For example, the institute of social changes «Strelka». The institute "Strelka" was founded in 2009 in Moscow to change the cultural landscape and the physical appearance of Russian cities. The Institute is actively engaged in educational activities. The city is always the main topic of research at the Institute [4].
ARTPLAY Design Center is known as one of the first creative clusters in Moscow. As a specialized business and shopping center in the field of architecture and design ARTPLAY Design Center brings together on its territory designers, architects, suppliers and vendors of furniture, lighting, ceramics, building materials and special equipment involving them in mutually beneficial cooperation with each other [3].
In this article, we examined general information about the concept of «creative economy», the role and the purpose of creative economy and examples of the creative economy. On the basis of this information we can conclude that this new direction of the economy is a higher stage of human development because it pushes to the foreground intelligence and individuality and causes changes in urban environment and the world community as a whole.
