The typological features of social adaptation and disadaptation of elderly people

This article is devoted to the problem of social and psychological adaptation of older people. The authors present the original definition of “disadaptation of elderly people”. The study reviews the various types and typological social and psychological features of older people that affect the degree of social adaptation of personality. Social and psychological types are classified according to the nature and level of activity, the strategies for coping with difficulties, the attitude towards the world and oneself, and life satisfaction. The obtained results of empirical research prove the influence of typological features on the level of social adaptation of older people. It is established that there is a correlation between the leading areas of elderly people activity and the success of their social adaptation. The most important areas for the successful adaptation of the elderly are their professional activity, interests and ability to spend free time, active stand in life.
