Three major trends of oral business discourse in general are grounded and specified as informative / argumentative, fatic and directive / regulative. A new multifold discourse tactics model of communicative competence is proposed. This communicative competence model splits into a number of subcompetences, correlated to different species of oral business discourse. Each of the latter is to be modelled on the basis of discourse practices analysis and to be described in terms of cognitive and discourse units (speech tactics and tactical moves correspondently)
