Тypes of people who commit burglary

Introduction. The study is based on the results of the questionnaire survey of the officers of investigative and operative units. The objective is to find out the peculiarities of the criminal who commits burglaries and develop criminalistics portraits of types of criminal personalities. Маterials and Methods. The research employed the statistical method to estimate the official statistical data and analytical documents of the territorial bodies of the Russian Interior Ministry concerning the state of crime, solution and investigation of burglaries. The author conducted the questionnaire survey and interviewing of the officers of investigative and operative units of the Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Omsk region with experience in solution and investigation of burglaries, analyzed forensic and investigative practice on criminal cases tried by the courts of the Omsk region. The study was conducted from 2014 to 2018. Results and Discussion. The peculiarities and results of the examinations of criminal personalities who commit burglaries are under study. The author formulated and characterized types of personalities of such criminals. It is established that psychophysiological data of the criminal personality determines his modus operandi in committing a burglary and his actions during its commission. Conclusions. Types of personalities of people who commit burglaries can be classified with regard to the area of criminal activity, criminal’s behaviour before, during and after the criminal act and the skills of committing a burglary.
