The study analyzes the historical population dynamics and changes in the settlement of one of the local groups of the Yakut Evens, i.e. the Tyugyasirs. The territory of this ethnic group includes two municipalities of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia): Khara-Ulakhsky National (Even) Nasleg of Bulunsky Ulus (District) and Eveno-Bytantaysky National Ulus (District). The novelty of the study consists in the determination of the size of the Tyugyasir Evens on the basis of previously unclaimed primary sources, the population census of Yakutia, and regional archives. The author counts the population of the above-mentioned group according to the Polar Census of 1926-1927 due to the lack of information on the number of the Tyugyasir Evens in Russian historiography. The research identifies the reasons for the population fluctuation and changes in the settlement of the Tyugyasir Evens in the 20th - early 21st centuries.
