Students' tolerance as their personality trait

The article deals with the urgent topic of the development of students' tolerance as their personality trait. The author believes that the successful development of students' tolerance as their personality trait is possible on the basis of subject-subject interaction between the teacher and students and among the students during which tolerance as a value and norm of modern society is discovered and fostered both on the level of the interaction itself and on the level of the materials chosen for the lessons. The study of the humanities on the whole and of foreign languages in particular facilitates the process of the development of students' tolerance as their personality trait which is also borne out by the author’s pilot study. The results of the pilot study also show that successful and steady development of students' tolerance needs a special effort in this direction.
