China's fuel and energy sector: current state of development

Conducting successful economic reforms in the early 2000s allowed China to achieve sustainable GDP growth, which in turn led to a significant increase in energy consumption. At present, ensuring access to energy resources is one of the key factors for further sustained economic growth. The high level of energy intensity of the Chinese economy negatively affects its dependence on imports of energy resources and the environmental situation in the country. In this paper, the authors analyzed the changes in the growth rates of energy consumption, the causes of the impact on it and measures of public policy to increase the efficiency and the level of use of renewable energy sources.
