The present paper contains an analysis of problem of maintaining a balance between the functions of the retail and consumer service provision for as part of the logistics system of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and its features as a type of trade activity. The risks of transfer of retail and consumer service provision to commercial retail operators are demonstrated. The need to use a wide range of models for organization of retail and consumer service provision is substantiated. A description of the main areas of convergence of the military retail and consumer service provision system and commercial retail trade is given.
