Traditions of oriental studies in the works of Russian scientists and orientalists of the Baikal region in XIX-XXI centuries

The article is devoted to the problems of development of mongolist historiography in Russia and in the Baikal region, at the beginning of XXI century. It identifies the main chronological milestones in the development of Mongolian studies of Russia. The author singles out features of the formation of mongolist historiography in the Baikal region. The development of the Buryat Mongolian studies is shown.
