Traditions of the genre of the epic in the "Sevastopol harvesting" by S.N. Sergeev-Tsensky

The article discusses the traditions of the epic genre in «Sevastopol Harvesting» by S.N. Sergeev-Tsensky. Attention is paid to such signs of the epic as the national scale of the described historical events, a large number of characters, special principles of the writer’s work with sources and documents, and mastery of battle painting. The tradition of L. Tolstoy’s epic novel «War and Peace» and the historical epic «The Tale of the Siege of the Trinity-Sergius Monastery» is revealed, as well as its perception by S.N. Sergeev-Tsensky.
