Traditional Sami culture reflected in Sami language: reasoning regarding publication of “The dictionary of traditional trades and husbandry lexis of kola Sami” (Murmansk, 2014)

The paper reports the theoretical results obtained in the process of compiling the dictionaries of spiritual and material culture lexis of the indigenous minorities of the North - the Sami. It is proven that the word list of such dictionaries reflects the linguistic world image of indigenous people, and the content of its definitions should include a culturological commentary explaining the common-sense cognition of the world around, people’s living practices and their everyday life experience.
