Traditional cosmogonical worldview of Lezgians

The article deals with one of the areas of spiritual culture of lezgians - concepts about the world based on folkloric stories. The parallels between religious and mythological views of other peoples of Caucasus were drawn. Despite the existing discrepancies the link between them is the idea about the world born out of chaos by an act of prime-creation. Lezgian ethnic group brought the view about the universe from the distant past. The universe consisted of 3 parts: heavenly - abode of gods and spirits, earthly - shelter of human and animals, underground - covering the essence of evil. Several topics are discussed in the article: creation, outstanding characteristics of the deities, the appearance of the first man, language acquisition, mythological justification of the emergence of professions and trades, the structure of the universe. The examples from primary sources, according to fieldwork were given.
