The traditional peasant dwelling as an expression of the idea of nationality in Russian philosophical and aesthetic views of romanticism era

The article examines the features of traditional Russian peasant dwelling in the context of philosophical and aesthetic views of the Romanticism era, which emphasizes the importance of reflecting national specificity in the works of art and architectural forms, the need to avoid borrowing alien artistic form. The vision of the Romantic era rejects classicist universalism and postulates the historicity and originality of creativity. Works of art, architecture, expressed in national form, are characterized as having the qualities of integrity, authenticity, endowed with a deep essential content. The article examines the functional content of the Russian izba as a peculiar microcosm of the Russian peasant. It is emphasized that the construction of housing is based on traditional methods, materials and technologies of building, characterized by adaptation to local climatic conditions. Features of the traditional Russian dwelling - izba also express the spiritual qualities of the Russian people.
