"Tragic split" and "unique poetic visions". N. A. Struve about I. S. Turgenev

The article is devoted to the assessment of the personality and creativity of Ivan Turgenev by the literary critic of the Russian Abroad Nikita Alekseevich Struve. Recently celebrated the 200th anniversary of Turgenev coincided with the 35th anniversary of the article-editorial N. A. Struve “Two anniversaries”. In this work the researcher-emigre compares I. S. Turgenev with another Russian classic-jubilee - V. A. Zhukovsky. If Zhukovsky in the article Struve appears as a figure extremely harmonious and integral, then Turgenev, on the contrary, becomes the embodiment of duality and fracture. Critically perceiving the personality of the famous writer, the researcher emphasizes the uniqueness and uniqueness of Turgenev's artistic heritage.
