Within the framework of the stated theme, the author focuses on the peculiar typology of Rachmaninov’s worldview as a composer, on his refraction of artistic traditions in music, in which the theme of the “Russian idea” is fully present. The author emphasizes that questions about the artist’s purpose and mission, about the fate of Russia and humanity are always among Rachmaninoff's top priorities in his art. The relevance of the theme is predetermined by the aspiration to reveal in Rachmaninoff's music the traditions of the artistic embodiment of Russian spirituality and the ideas of Christian humanism. Throughout his work, the composer proves that the gap between the ideal and the real can be overcome only through contact with eternal spiritual values. No less important to Rachmaninoff the composer is the problem of religion, faith and the entire system of Orthodox worship.
