This article is devoted to transition the foothills of Northern Altai indigenous people (Kumandins, Tubalars, Chelkans) from traditional to new “Russian ” anthroponymical model during XIX - the beginning of the XX century. This research is based on archival materials: registers of births and household cards of the All-Russian agricultural census in 1917. Transformation of anthroponymical model was caused by interethnic contacts and activity of the Altai spiritual mission. This process began at the beginning of the XIX century and different groups of indigenous people passed to new anthroponymical model with different degree of intensity. The wide range of anthroponyms was initially formed; later their quantity was reduced. At the beginning of the XX century most of natives adopted the “Russian ” anthroponymy. Distribution and fixing of the “Russian ” anthroponymical model was the tool of the missionaries proselytical activity and allowed to incorporate the Siberian indigenous people in country estate.
