Transformation of the artistic images of classical opera as a result of interpretation activities

The article tells about the opera by Dmitri Shostakovich «Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk» («Katerina Ismailova») in the context of interpretation. We study the interpretation of the story by Nikolai Leskov in the opera by Dmitri Shostakovich, and analyzed by the transformation of artistic images of the opera in the film directed by Michael Shapiro (1966) and theatrical director Martin Kusej (Amsterdam, 2006).
