The article addresses the implementation challenges of transhumanist technologies and their impact on personal identity. Its relevance lies in the necessity to evaluate these cutting-edge technologies from a humanistic perspective and assess their influence on modern society. The authors examine various viewpoints, both supportive and critical of transhumanism, and explore Western and Russian perspectives on the matter. They analyze the goals of transhumanists and their agenda for transitioning towards the “transhuman”, leveraging existing bioinformatics and medical technologies. The concept of the “transhuman” represents an evolutionary step towards a new post-human race. The authors systematically argue that in the 21st century, the futuristic world governed by artificial intelligence and populated by “improved” humans has ceased to be mere science fiction and has become a concrete program for the dehumanization of individuals and society. Ethical, social, and philosophical contradictions of transhumanist technologies are examined, highlighting the dangers that necessitate serious discussion and careful regulation to safeguard personal identity within society. To address these contradictions, the authors propose means of resistance to transhumanist technologies, including the development of bioethics, informational campaigns on the impact of technologies on personal identity, the implementation of mandatory ethical codes for scientists and biotechnology companies, and the protection of mental health, among others. The authors emphasize the role of Russian culture, rooted in Orthodoxy, love of the Motherland and respect for the family, as a significant source of identity protection.
