Transformation of criminal activity: the current trend in increase of crime among pensioners

The article analyzes statistical data on the increase of crime among the elderly against the background of a downward trend in the total number of crimes in Russia. The author developed a classification of the transformation of criminal activity depending on the age of the offender over the past 30 years and concluded that the “average criminal” is aging. By analyzing the phased increase in the retirement age for men and women and comparing it with life expectancy in Russia, it was concluded about the possible causes of aging of the «average criminal».
