Young people as the population category most susceptible to the new trends of modern society are at the forefront of globalization processes. Globalization has a direct impact on the transformation of religious values of the population of the republics of the North Caucasus. The dynamics and scale of the transformation of religious values in the region is different. In a number of regions, transformational processes are proceeding calmly, in others the clash of values of postmodern and traditional society causes conflict situations. The author reveals that in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic globalization processes serve as a source of two opposite directions of transformation of the youth religious values: postmodern and Islamic ones. The research results show that a significant part of young people superficially relates to religious norms, which are more likely elements of the traditions of the peoples of Kabardino-Balkaria, transmitted by inertia from one generation to another. The problem of religious extremism among the youth of the republic is the result of several factors that are closely interrelated: the protest against injustice, the socio-economic problems of the region, and the active propaganda activities of Islamic radicals.
