The article states the idea that in the conditions of transition to the post-industrial society, the education should represent cognitive development, rather than informative training. From the perspective of the theoretical reflection of pedagogical reality and characteristics of post-industrial type of civilization development, the main paradigmatic meanings of engineering pedagogical education in Russia are being formed.
