The article discusses the main symbols of the transformation of religious symbols of the Mongolosphere, as well as the mentality and confessional identity of the Mongolian peoples as a result of a centuries-old period of adaptation of Buddhist ideas and practices in chronological periods of different lengths. The adaptation of the popular dogma of Buddhism as a world religion by the Mongolian peoples has largely changed not only their religious picture of the world, but also their confessional, ethnocultural identity and competence. It would seem that in the context of the general universal structure of the perception of Buddhist culture in line with its adaptation by the Mongolian meta-ethnic community, a single ethno-confessional identity and ethnocultural competence should have formed. However, the data of our studies still reveal regional and local differentiations.
