Specific status transformation of the Russian higher education institutions

The transformation processes of Universities' specific status in Russia are considered in the article. Some pre-conditions for the higher education system modernization have been revealed, being determined by the institutional traps formation; possible results of the universities specific status change have been defined: the growth of managerial effectiveness in the higher education system and economic efficiency increase of the new educational institutions types have been specified.
