Transhumanism in the mirror of post-secular culture

The article examines the topic of secularization in terms of the classification of various definitions and approaches to the secularization treatment, as well as such a modern phenomenon as transhumanism. Secularization is a necessary introduction to the modern topic of postsecularity. The available scholarly works present the processes of secularization and postsecularization mainly from the standpoint of society, civilizations, and a specific type of society - Western European (Eurocentrism). It is extremely rare that secularization is considered in the cultural aspect. Present article identifies two components of modern cultural realities: postsecularity and transhumanism, which are mutually contingent. The definition and typology of postsecularity and postsecular culture is analyzed mainly in Russian authors. The characteristics of transhumanism and its “spiritual alternative” in the emerging and transforming new global culture are presented.
