Transnational organized crime as a threat to national security

One of the problems that represent a significant threat to the national security of the Russian Federation is the problem of drug addiction. A global dimension in the illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and their precursor’s negative impact on the effectiveness of the fight against this scourge. The article analyzes the relationship and interaction of drug trafficking to organized crime of an international character, as well as expanded framework for combating drug-related crime in the Russian Federation. Illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the realities of the Russian state in recent years has increased significantly, providing a very negative, and in some cases, and "fatal" impact on society as a whole and its individual components, in particular. It so happened that the problem of the spread of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances is recognized as one of the most serious threats to national security. Links transnational criminal organizations extend far beyond the borders of one state, which significantly affects their mobility and activity. This in turn complicates the work of law enforcement agencies, because their jurisdiction is limited outside the state border, and concrete forms, methods and techniques of legal regulation of counteraction to transnational drug-related crime in most countries has not yet been worked out.
